Bring on the seafood!

Born into a meat and potato family in the heart of Tobacco town, hundreds of kilometers from the nearest ocean, it may not be surprising that I have never been much of a seafood consumer. In fact, it took me nearly 20+ years of my life for me to try salmon and shrimp and although they now have become a regular part of my diet (along with occasional lobster and scallops) I remain a bit weary of eating sea creatures. As a token to my resistance, we have travelled to over 25 countries - many along beautiful coastlines and boasting restaurants galore with serious seafood spreads to even make the Nova Scotian in the party drool - but I have never even had a bite of fish while away from Canada. Why you may ask? The main reasons for this shameful act are that I seem to pick up food poisoning faster than a sun burn and sadly believe that safe seafood comes UV irradiated/frozen/wrapped in cellophane. I am proud to say that I have finally broken free of my gastro boundaries and have indulged in prawn after prawn after prawn. Unless the incubation period is longer than 2 days, I am happy to report that no sickness followed my seafood ingestion! Bring it on coastal bounties, I am READY!!! Yummmmmm!
