Kuala Lumpur Summary

Better late than never...

Best of: Food, transit, Malls
Worst of: Transit, Malls (for Jarret), Drink prices

Highlights: Bird Aviary, Chinatown

What??? Coconut and corn gelato, caramel corn for the movies, shisha at a mexican resto

KL was great. It was way more modern and comfortable than we were anticipating, yet still retained an air of the exotic. For foodies and shoppers, it truly is a must see destination. The shopping malls put even the highest end strip of stores in Toronto to shame at the same time as providing for the more average purchaser, and the sheer size of them was at times overwhelming (hence the worst of for Jarret after following Leigh around all day). Transit was easy and cheap, going everywhere, but consisted of four separate, unconnected systems in the one city, leading to its ranking on the best and worst. Major highlights were the Bird Aviary and Chinatown which was more like one huge open air market.

With friendly people, good weather, great food, a burgeoning major regional air hub with cheap flights and all the other things that make up a good holiday, we totally recommend KL to anyone looking for a gateway to enter Asia.
