I guess it is true that Belgian beers go down easier, because we ended up sleeping in too late to make a trip to Brugge worthwhile. Oh well. Turns out that Belgium is living up to what it is known for, the fries are great, the beer is great, the waffles from the waffle truck are great if you are into sweet food, the mussels were incredible and the people are super friendly! Believe it or not, I (Jarret) could not even finish my servingof mussels! That doesn't bode well for those of you who believe I will suffer a heart attack in the next two weeks while in Germany!
So today we are spending another day in Brussels, waiting around for non-existent trams, just sitting out the rain updating this blog. Interesting thing, no starbucks in Brussels...only local coffee shops, and we have only seen 2 McDonald's here, although there were 5 H&Ms within 500 meters walk in the shopping area! Tomorrow we are off to Cologne, hope to be able to get tickets to see a footie game while we are there.
In case you are wondering, that is our trip mascot (who is still nameless...any ideas?) posing in front of the Belgian parliament. You would swear people have never seen guinea pigs here!
Glad you guys are having fun in Germany... have an extra pint for me... but not the Bitburger... for the love of God, not the Bitburger. As for the mascot, I think he needs a good ol' Canadian name... how "aboot" Gordy!
ReplyDeletehahah You guys are the best! Way to make the most of Belgium! Hope you'll continue to have a good time! Call your mascot Stan. Or call him Trippy.
ReplyDeleteGordy-Trippy-Stan! What a name!
