It will be CHINA for XMAS!

So based on timing, and maybe a little luck in the eye's of Leigh, our travels will take us to China for Christmas (Shanghai) and New Year's Day (Beijing). A preliminary scope of hotel availability and prices have dismissed our previous conceptions that spending these holidays in China's biggest cities would be very expensive, especially for Christmas. Given the smaller number of Christians and the Chinese Calender which times the new year's arrival in mid February for 2011, we may just have found our location for Western holidays perfectly!
On paper, Shanghai seems to be the best city to celebrate Santa's arrival as its home to the Christmas Expo and many hotels host Western style celebrations, complete with Christmas themed decorations and chilly, snowy weather outside. We are well aware that we will need to trade our bathing suits and sandals for winter coats and boots, and as such we are already on the hunt for warm winter clothing here in Bangkok!
We are keeping track of the votes on how to celebrate though, and rest assured that if celebrate like the locals wins out, we will try to find something that the locals do for Xmas. So keep voting!
