Hong Kong blew Jarret and I away. It possessed everything we could think of and more for a top of the line vacation or a budget friendly stay. Here is our summary.
Best of: Metro, metro, & metro (by far the best system we have ever been on and it is super easy to use), variety & quality of food available, shopping (malls that are open 'till midnight, even during the week!)
Worst of: Hawking (people hork so much that the government has posted sights in an attempt to curb the habit), lack of medium size/mid-range hotel accomodation, pesky tailor salesmen.
Best meal: Dumplings at local joint and sushi
Yes please: Ash trays/butt stops on every garbage can, super clean and free public washrooms.
No thanks: The amount of public spitting, agressive salespeople, cell-sized hotel rooms, shower/sink 2-in-1.
Does this make sense? Hong Kong was the first city we have been offered drugs in! Smack anyone??
Wrap up: We loved Hong Kong as much as Berlin and we can totally understand why lots of expats would choose to live there. We have said it already, but if you want a great city with great food, incredible shopping, is easy to get around, clean and friendly with a dose of the exotic, then put Hong Kong at the top of your vacation destinations, but go well rested, cause this city does not sleep!!
