Yesterday we braved the jetlag and visited the KL Bird Park which is the largest free-flight aviary in the world. It is beautiful and the jungle habitats for the thousands of birds are breathtaking. Nearly all the birds are cage-less except the real meat eating owls and tiny tiny parrots. It must have been mating season as nearly every male peacock was in full bloom and showing off to females, albeit not always of the same species! One particular male was very interested in the flamingos. Concerning the male peacocks, Jarret and I quickly realized that a good butt shake was more of a show than the expansion of their feathers. Who would of thought?
A visit to the KL Bird Park is an ABSOLUTE must-see for all tourists, especially those loving animals like us. You could easily spend half a day there (which we did). I will leave you with a few pictures we took while visiting the tiny parrots. You walk into their exhibit and they come at you! I admit, I did scream when they started landing on me. We fed them nectar which they loved and a few stragglers took a ride on my head until finally they flew off just in time for us to exit the sight. So adorable. Enjoy.
